I just bought a cheap new keyboard on Amazon with brown switches. Going to see how I like it, maybe make it a little quieter around here if it goes well.

And also added a cool-looking red switch keyboard as well. I'll find a use for it.

I've been using a Das Keyboard with MX brown switches for 5-6 years. I type a lot, and cheap keyboards wear down too quickly - when the little nubs on the F and J keys wear off, I throw the keyboard away. Cheap keyboards were lasting a year.

My Das Keyboard is getting close to getting replaced, and I'll buy another one. I can't go back to a cheap keyboard, I type faster and make fewer mistakes with this compared to a membrane keyboard.

Am I the only weirdo that prefers the keyboards on laptops to standard keyboards with raised keys? I feel like I can type so much faster with a flat keyboard and that soft tapping sound is way more pleasant than the loud abrasive clacking of normal keyboards.

One of the reasons I haven't pulled the trigger to get a desktop for gaming is I find standard raised keyboards annoying.

I think it just takes practice to get as fast on a mechanical. I type 95 wpm on both.

I use Razer Blackwidow X at home (Razer Green > MX Blue) and absolute LOVE the feel, weight, and even sound. Only downside is my wife has to tell me when she's recording something so I will stop typing, as the sound is picked up from anywhere in the apartment in her videos.

I got the cheapest brown switch off amazon I could find to bring to work (some Sunsonny thing) for noise considerations.

Official report: Blue > Brown >>>>> Black > Red

I just can't with the linear switches. Gave the red switch keyboard to Mr. NA, because it's just too mushy for work for the amount that I type.

Replaced my blue switch keyboard at work with the brown because it's tactile enough and quieter than the blue, but nothing beats that blue bump.

I currently use a microsoft natural keyboard. I would love to get a a mechanical ergonomic keyboard like the Ergodox, but I want to be able to try it out before committing to a purchase.

I have a Cherry Mx Brown in the office, and no one has noticed (or said that they've noticed). I have the Microsoft Natural at home, and I would love a combination. I may point the Ergodox out to my spouse the next time they ask me what I want for a present, because I won't buy it on my own, but it looks amazing.

I wonder if any physical stores carry mechanical keyboards. Like I'm not being sarcastic, I really don't know if you can walk in a store and try the keys to make an informed decision. I can't remember the last time I went to a physical store to buy anything but food.
