Default MAS-II Material Difficulty

Hi everyone,

Curious to see what people's thoughts are regarding the difficulty of the exam relative to MAS-I. I went through the Credibility and Statistical learning source material (some of LMM and Bayesian source material too) and all of TIA.

Seems significantly easier in terms of depth of material and questions that can be tested.

I finished reading through the source materials this last weekend and I think I may have to agree, somewhat. I think that the questions that we can be asked computationally are not more difficult than MAS I. There is a large amount of material though, similarly.

This material was more enjoyable because it seems like everything fits together much more than MAS I. Non Life Actuarial Models (Tse) gives the background for Bayesian statistics. Linear Mixed Models (West) gives all of the machinery for modeling and Statistical Rethinking (McElreath) strongly incorporates the Bayesian ideas into building models.

Does anybody have any input on buying TIA? or is the source material enough for this exam?

My employer paid for TIA so cost wasn't an issue. Personally I love videos and have used them for almost every exam so far. Passed MAS-I with TIA so I'm hoping I can continue that here.

My employer paid for it as well. While I used both source material and TIA, I don't think I'd feel as comfortable without TIA.

Spring 2020 MAS-II sitting has been postponed, mid-June is current target date.

At the risk of stating the obvious, people with TIA subscriptions will automatically be extended to whatever the actual exam date is.
