So SquareEnix had a large presentation regarding Final Fantasy XIII-3, or LIGHTNING RETURNS: Final Fantasy XIII. There are several videos that explain pretty much nothing; with no gameplay footage to be seen whatsoever.

I've watched (i.e. wasted my time) watching these to find out very little. ScrewAttack's summary actually provides the best explanation:

The game will take place during the final 13 days in Cocoon and the experience will be “world driven”, meaning the environment will influence the experience you have as the protagonist. It also has implications for connecting our world to the world of Cocoon via Social Media. It will be released in 2013 and for more details simply watch the four presentations listed below.

Yeah that does pretty much say nothing. I assumed it would just be a direct sequel to XIII-2, does that just mean they are going to leave us hanging on how all of that works out?

I beat XIII-2, but I didn't 100% it, so I suppose they might have had a slightly better ending after you get 100%.

There was a slightly better ending, but I completely forget it by now. There was also a more detailed ending after Lightning's DLC pack. You could just look up both of those on YouTube if you cared.

After I beat the game I figured I'd take a short break and then come back to 100% it, but it's never happened. I'm probably 90-95% complete but the part where I have to fight every single monster in the game seems extremely tedious and annoying because of randomness so I just haven't had the motivation to do it.

That part was a cakewalk to the complete randomness of the damned casino slot machine...

Yeah that was one I just did by "rubber banding" the controller and leaving it going for a couple of hours while I did other things.

I feel like that's the only real way to do it...unless you are a masochist that is willing to sit there and watch that stupid machine for hours...

The RPG gamer in me is loving gaining experience and increasing attributes of my player.
I bought Madden every year from 1996-2011 (except for 2006, as I hadn't upgraded to next gen yet). It got to the point where from, say 2008-2011, the improvments were so minor I just felt like I was paying $60 for the same game every year. I was a huge franchise guy, and I still enjoyed the off-season stuff (draft, FA, etc.); I'd have one sim franchise going, and one playthrough franchise. However, it was so ridiculously monotonous year after year that I just didn't buy it last year.

Another thing I noticed is that they'd take out features (e.g. superstar mode), and bring them back 3-4 years later like "hey, we listened!". If they listed in the first place, those modes would not have been taken out.

Personally, I'm not playing much right now - finishing out the challenges on Assassin's Creed Revelations (finished 70 of 74, close on the other 4), and then ACIII next month.

I'm playing Rock Band Blitz (on PSN) and Walking Dead Episode 3 (on XBLA). Enjoying both quite a bit!

Still have Deus Ex sealed...wondering if I'll ever actually pop it in and play it. I downloaded Dawnguard when it came out for Skyrim. Played about an hour or so and found myself extremely bored. It's always there for me to try if I feel like it, but I think I'm done with Skyrim (and I hope it doesn't sour me on Dishonored...).

Have several XBLA games downloaded and not really played (Bastion, Shadow Planet), and others I'd like to play some more (FEZ).

I imagine AC3 will be the next disc game I purchase...

Yeah, I stopped buying the madden games as well. The games were fun but they just didn't seem to put enough thought or effort into improving the franchise mode to make it worth while.
