Default Friday Thought: Interesting People

This one is a phone-in, and definitely not a pornhub search.

TDA made this comment to me earlier:

There are posters who bore me (polymath is one of them) and i rarely reply to them or even read their threads. Because, you know, they bore me.
Is it true? Do you only respond to people you find interesting? Or are we all just really boring people with nothing better to do and no reason for why we're doing the dumb things we're doing on here?

I love you with all my heart, NA, but just on a purely technical level, I'd have to go with TDA here. If you respond to somebody's post, I don't think you can say something about them doesn't interest you in some way. Fascinatingly bad, sometimes. But the set of posters that I think are boring is pretty much wholly contained within the set of posters that I don't ever respond to. ymmv of course.

yes and yes.

I love a good and interesting conversation, but being an actuary I have to chime in when I think someone is just wrong

There are a few posters whose troll I will not feed

Catch-22: If I respond to this, ....

Anywho, I have several people on ignore that I will not respond to nor quote, because their words are worthless to me and the ignore feature is an efficient way to read the posts of posters whose words might have some worth.
Oh, I might sometimes read the ignored's psychotic or hysteric or ornery drivel because nothing else to do, but I won't respond.
Mostly, I'm looking for information and some humor.

Why you gotta qualify like that?

Anyway, to say something is interesting enough to reply to doesn't mean it's one of your top 10 interests in the world and you want to get it a phd in it or you love it so much you want to marry it. It just means that there was just enough for you take the time to click and type and click.

Related question: If you have a bajillion alts, are you more or less interesting as a poster? As a person?
