Depends on your definition of "worse". The Redskins season was pretty much lost as soon as Smith went down. When you're down to your 3rd/4th qb, you're no longer thinking about winning. There's much more to consider than "win right now". What is the cost? What are the future benefits? What intangibles do they bring? What are the risks? etc...

Do you believe Kaep could have just come off the streets and saved them? Do you believe he'd be willing to sign a minimum contract like Sanchez and Johnson? (We already know the answer to that one)

So what purpose, exactly, would there be to bring Kaep on board? Is he going to be your qb of the future? (No.) Is he going to be a unifying force your team rallies around? (No.) He just another washed up qb, that also comes with baggage. No one wants that.

He only had success early in his career because NFL defenses weren't prepared to defend against his mobility. They quickly figured that part out, and his production dropped off as well. To succeed long-term at qb in the NFL you can't just rely on raw skills like he did. You have to develop pinpoint accuracy with your throws, and have the mental capacity to read and manipulate defenses without the head coach holding your hand the whole time. Most qb's don't possess those qualities, btw.

^the guys on the radio out here said it best. The skins should have brought Kaep in for a "workout" with the other 3 guys and signed Johnson anyway.

It's win-win. If Kaep says no you say "hey we offered him a work out but he said no"

If he comes to the work out you just say "we worked him out, he didn't look good, doesn't fit our system"

Apparently, even saying his name at an NFL facility is enough to lose a lot of revenue.

Say it three times, though, and ...
