We don't focus on so-called 'character' issues. Turkson brings a ton of value to any organization. Not to say that we're infallible here, but thou shalt not pass up the best guy in the draft, period!

I'm sure the church likes his position on social media. But it's good that he has a realistic backup plan if the pope thing doesn't work out for him.

Vogt: I think Twitter’s great. Twitter is one of the social media ways you can connect with fans parishioners without really being hurt by it. FaceBook you have to be careful with I think. FaceBook scares me. There are pictures on there that can be taken out of context. There are pictures that can get you in trouble even though they’re innocent. So I think you have to be very careful with social media.

Rays Pope Digest: If you weren’t playing baseball the pope, what would you like to be doing?

Vogt: I don’t know. I have my degree in Physical Education. It would be either in Education or Sports Administration. I can’t remember what it’s called, but it’s basically to become an Athletic Director.

So you're saying if he fizzles out at the conclave, he will most likely be a gym teacher?

BWT, when is the gym teacher draft?

Why did I draft Óscar Andrés Rodríguez Maradiaga? Because he is from Honduras and I once took a cruise that that stopped at Roatan, Honduras. I proceeded to get lit on the beach drinking Port Royal beer.

Had your pick written down, then backed out and went with a more recognizable country. Plus, I have questions about Maradiaga's actual age. Might be too old to be popabile once the documentation is checked out.

This is going to take me a few minutes. greenman's strategy coincidentally overlapped with mine, and I'm lost at sea for the moment. Dadgummit...

The rumors about Maradiaga age are totally false. Well maybe not totally false, Maradiaga lied about his age but he forged the birth certifacte to make himself 3 years older. When asked why he claimed living on a priests salary was diffcult and anything he could do to apply for a government pension early was an avenue he needed to explore.
