I just haven't read Firefight yet. Started it this morning and don't want any spoilers.

1) Uncle Kiin being a pirate lord... absolutely no reason for this.
2) Adien being an Elantrian / Adien having an autistic ability to know the precise amount of steps anywhere - very Deus Ex Machina.
Totally agree with you about Elantris. I totally think there's more he could do with these characters, whether it be prequel or sequel material.

I'm a little afraid to dip into the 17th Shard fora...I've poked around the Coppermind site, but if I find myself wasting time on the AO, I can't imagine how I wouldn't lose hours reading things on those sites...

Honestly, I barely remember reading Firefight. I'm going to do a series reread before reading Calamity.

Elantris will be revisited again, but we're a few years off.

Sanderson's current timeline is:

June 2016: Alcatraz 5
Sometime 2017: Stormlight 3
Sometime 2017: Rithmatist 2
Spring 2018: New YA project 1
Fall 2018: Wax and Wayne 4 (final book)
Sometime 2019: Stormlight 4
Sometime 2019: New YA project 2
Sometime 2020: Elantris 2
Sometime 2020 New YA project 3 (final book)
Sometime 2021: Stormlight 5 (ending of first arc)
Sometime 2022: Elantris 3 (final book)

I'm even more excited for Nightblood, the follow-up to Warbreaker, but that one is a long ways off.

Reckoners questions and comments

Firefight:
Spoiler:

How did Megan not die for good when she ran into the burning building? Didn't the fire negate her powers? Does she have to burn to death to be dead dead? I know she shot herself...but I still feel like her powers were "negated" by the fire

Calamity:
Spoiler:

What the heck is up with Ildithia moving/salt stuff? Is this ever explained?

How did David get Steelheart powers? Does he still have water powers too? I don't get it.

Larcener - he kept saying "we" or "us" when talking to David at the end - "I will not shirk my duty as other have. We are to watch, as is our calling" - Who is he referring to here?

So are all the High Epics invincible now? Do they still have weaknesses? Seemed like they were all tied to Calamity, so if he's gone, I'm not sure how they die...

Spoiler:
From what I understand, even though it's her weakness, she has to burn to death to be dead dead. Outside of that, there may be some "The secret is overcoming your fear" going on in that scene.

Calamity follow-up
Spoiler:

Even after they face their fears, their powers are still negated by their fears...like Megan's was in the cave fight.
