What Lucy said.

I would add that the mods are currently reviewing some posts in the Straight Pride Parade thread. Moderation is likely forthcoming, but it's still being reviewed / discussed.

Thank you both for your response

I never read this thread before, but I'm probably just as guilty of some of these infractions. Gay culture can be very, very toxic. While nothing at all should be claimed as a strict rule, it's not so much stereotypes that make gays depressed and suicidal these days.

Primarily, for men, it's other gays.

Pull back the curtain and it's incredibly toxic. A hardcore party scene, a shallowness so shallow it almost comes off as depth, non-committal attitudes toward relationships (dating sites are a desert compared to grindr), cliques well into adulthood, cattines and pettiness, a firm propensity to categorize into 'tribes' (an option on grindr) and dehumanize others, subtle but sometimes overt racism (no rice), trying to fit in...

It's not everybody but it's there. LGBT safe spaces sometimes are not. It really depends on the subculture and clientelle.

Whereas straight folks have external pressures to couple off and settle down. Whether this brings 'true' happiness, I'd argue they're better off than anyone caught in the black hole of emptiness that is gay 'culture.'

I'm a straight woman, but I pm'd him with suggestions for other parts of "gay culture" he might want to check out. Because I have gay friends who sound a lot happier, and seen to be members of supportive social groups.
