Talking Life Actuary– California - ASA/FSA with 7+ year experience

Health IQ is a well funded startup founded on the premise that people who take responsibility for their health are overpaying for a number of financial products because they are subsidizing those who are less health conscious. We have built a health IQ test to help find, connect, and celebrate those who are health conscious. If you are passionate about improving your health and interested in rewarding the health conscious by creating the first ever life insurance product based on health IQ, we would like to talk to you.

Job Description
  • Help design the sampling strategies needed to build a proprietary health IQ actuarial database.
  • Team with statisticians to analyze the collected data, such as mortality, health IQ, and other risk factors using both traditional actuarial and modern statistical techniques. Construct probability tables to forecast risk and liabilities.
  • Develop novel life insurance products (both group and individual) based on health IQ. Lead the design of insurance plans, rate-making and risk management.
  • Stay abreast of developments in actuarial techniques. Research relevant laws and regulations. Analyze developments in the marketplace.

The Perks
  • The opportunity to create a new kind of life insurance from scratch
  • Open, curious culture where everyone works together
  • Competitive salary and equity
  • Generous benefits plan: Medical, Dental & Vision Coverage
  • 401(k) retirement plan

Desired Skills and Experiences
  • ASA or FSA with 7+ years life actuarial experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of experience studies.
  • Significant experience in life insurance products development and pricing. Experience with group life products preferred.
  • Ideally experience with statistical software such as SAS or R
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment and can be both hands-on and strategic.
