POSITION SUMMARY
Manage/coach a multi-functional group of actuarial staff in support of department mission to protect Aetna's financial integrity. Lead projects established to support goals identified in strategic and operating plans.

Fundamental Components:
Responsibilities include pricing, reserving and forecasting along with addressing business issues and strategic initiatives. Lead/manage projects in support of strategic and operating plan goals. Negotiate and influence sound business decisions by adhering to established risk management principles. Anticipate and recognize matters that materially affect financial results and make sound, unbiased reports on these matters. Develop a high performing team, including responsibility for hiring and termination decisions. Have product and business knowledge - Review assumptions developed by staff from a business perspective and be able to influence senior management to accept alternative recommendations. Integrate understanding of internal and external data sources for quantifying risks.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE desired:
7+ years related work experience. Must be an ASA or FSA and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries able to sign state rate filings and other required actuarial certifications.

EDUCATION
The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Actuarial/American Academy of Actuaries is desired
Actuarial/Associate of the Society of Actuaries is desired
Actuarial/Fellow of the Society of Actuaries is desired


FUNCTIONAL EXPERIENCES
Functional - Actuarial/Pricing: local market & rate filings/7-10 Years
Functional - Actuarial/Valuation/Reserving/4-6 Years
Functional - Actuarial/Risk analysis/management/4-6 Years
