I find this conversation most entertaining. I'm not sure I understand the points being made, but I like the cadence.

Now, who is the election for? Dumbledore or Gandalf? And what is the criteria used to decide who is more worthy? Is it number of films made or highest grossing box office receipts? I admit to not reading these books, a dragon's eye sight is not that strong. But I enjoy a good movie if it has some special effects sounds. Nothing like a movie with a booming sub-woofer rocking the bass to shake a dragons bones!!

Right you are, some of us like to read codices for interesting games of adventure.

Here is the one I am listening to in rare audio book form:

The Decnalab Codex: A Prelude to Bacon Finnegan The Artifacts of Merlin Saga

I hope you enjoy both those books, BEWD. Audiobooks are convenient if one has lengthy commutes.

BEWD, Dumbledore vs Gandalf is not directly an issue here. Dumbledore is not entered in the AOSCDME. Some critics has suggested that many worthy contenders were excluded.

Albus and I have always cooperated well. He has never insisted upon recognition for his role in the defeat of Sauron, nor I for mine in the defeat of Voldemort. Were we to enter the steel cage, I know I would be the survivor. He does too but might not admit it.

Worthy could be different. It's subjective. If someone wants to argue in this thread or elsewhere that Dumbledore is more worthy, OK.

one objective measure (sigh: RIP Water Cooler)

I hope you don't mind if I jump in to this conversation.

Those results were from 2002 (well before my rookie join date). I tried it now:

dumbledore
About 5,920,000 results

Gandalf
About 14,300,000 results

trolls
About 25,700,000 results

traci
About 20,300,000 results

Not at all. It started between BEWD and me, but you are my unofficial campaign manager and you are BEWD's friend. Others less connected to BEWD and me can also participate. The more the merrier.

If traci had remained in charge, the trolls would still be under control. Tom and DWS

So many more hits overall now.

Spoiler - Privileged and confidential communication to my unofficial campaign manager. Others do not read.:
To avoid jinxing me, please do not try Googlefight of Gandalf vs Arbitrary or even Gandalf vs "The Arbitrary" unless the searches are case sensitive.

Help us Obi Wan BuruBuru! You're our only hope!

I have no idea what the hell is going on in Gandalf's rambling posts at this point. All I know is I think he beat Dumbledore and to be honest, that's the right call. I was being a bit elfish in my comment that Dumbledore was the GWOAT.
