Pair this with widespread random testing and could get a near real time picture of how the virus is spreading.

We apologize. Those responsible have been sacked.

Good luck with that... Do you have a court order for that test and/or a medical professional willing to violate professional ethics in order to conduct a medical procedure on a patient without their consent?

Obviously you volunteers and a system for getting random samples out of that. SCAN is doing that in the Seattle area with mailed kits, and seems to be oversubscribed with volunteers every day.

Any reason to think that the people refusing to take the test might be biased?

Iím sure there are many issues with turning a self selected group into something approximating a random sample. But it should still give a much better picture of the true state of things.

They arenít just testing all volunteers, or the first X to sign up. They get a set each day, then try to pull a representative sample based on the demographic information provided. Yes, people could lie and Iím sure itís not perfect, but this kind of testing is badly needed.

I've arrived at the opinion that we should probably use serious/critical cases as our most accurate figure, try to gross that up by an agg total:serious ratio seen in countries with widespread testing.

This thread belongs, and I'm sure will continue to belong, in a history book.

On day 12 of no human contact outside my wife and son. Stay safe everyone.
