Default Taking a family vacation

I am a bit stir crazy and was thinking about a vacation on a lake in a remote area. It might just be the wife and me, but could also include some other family members. How risky do you think this would be if we included the following requirements for other family?

1. Everyone get a COVID test one week prior to departure. Recommend isolating as much as possible for a few days before the test.
2. Everyone self isolate the week prior to departure. Anyone not feeling well prior to departure should stay home.
3. One person would be assigned to buy perishable items for the group a day or 2 before departure. Everyone else should not be shopping during isolation week.
4. No immunocompromised individuals will be invited, nor anyone that can't isolate for the week prior to the trip
5. All meals consumed at the rental house or outdoors.

The drive is short enough (3 hours) that it can be made without meal stops or potty breaks. Might be stretching it to go there and back without a gas stop, but certainly no more than one fill up required.

sounds good

life is risk. sounds like you have a way better plan to mitigate said risk than most people who would plan such a trip.

I'd think self-isolating between taking the test / getting results / arriving would be adequate.

Book wherever you want to stay 3 days before you want to arrive so there's time for anyone who stayed there before's germs to have died off.

oh, I wouldn't get the COVID test one week prior to departure though. I'd do it more like 2 days prior to departure. At least here, I think you get those results very fast.

although, nevermind, getting a test means not isolating, so your one week is probably good.

That's pretty much our plan. We rented a 2 room cottage on the beach with direct access to the beach and away from the high traffic areas. We'll have our own kitchen and will be bringing lots of books. So, there's no need for going to restaurants or tourist attractions.

I like the idea of getting a test before going. How would those family members feel about that though? Or is this a "take a test or don't go" thing?

Sounds just like... home

Then again, I've never understood these kind of vacations. So, you do you.
