So far I am liking the BA + CF combo. I have been reading the CF manual first, then going through the BA summaries and practice problems. Haven't touched the source much so far.

I've been tasking with putting together the data for the SAO and AOS for my company this year. It's a double-edged sword since it means I no longer have that much time to study at work anymore. I got sick this week, so I haven't been motivated to study once I get home since I've felt drained.

But on the other hand I should have some level of familiarity now once I get to COPFLR.

Finally able to get started some this afternoon. Per BA, I at least remember most of COPFLR still. Need to grind RBC, GAAP, and Feldblum Surplus up front this time I think. I keep forgetting R4/R5 calculation components and just have no real accounting exposure to relate to the latter two.

FWIW, I used purely TIA for exam 6 - no additional manuals or any source. Only got 225 hours in total for this exam & passed with a 7 first try. TIA is excellent. The manuals are a great resource to continually refer back to & the notecards are very good & almost repetitive in some areas they are so dense.

Hone in on the areas that are highly testable (Accounting, SAO, IRIS, Schedule F/P, Government Programs & their buzzwords, Regulation) & you will be just fine.

I chose TIA purely from a consistency perspective (used for MAS-I & 5) & felt it was perfectly adequate. Best of luck to all.

Bone to pick with 2018.Spring #18:

For calculation of excessive premium growth, the year-over-year changes are supposed to be a function of gross (D+A) premiums. (This is even verified in 2019.Spring #15 examiners report).

There was no mention of addressing how anyone was supposed to clarify use of the net premium year-over-year amounts. No mention of 'no reinsurance' in the question, which at least implies that gross=net.

This is one of those things I'd get stuck on in the exam, knowing in the back of my head I'm right, but clearly missing something (because it's not provided/clarified) on a complicated calculation problem (for this exam). Yes, you can say 'assume no reinsurance', but we shouldn't have to. In a real world calculation we'd just go look at the D+A numbers because they exist.

[/bonepick]

I emailed CAS and they responded saying shipment is usually within 2 days of ordering through usps, if it hasn't arrived then it's probably lost. They just resent me a copy through fedex and hopefully it arrives.
