Default Red Herring (Game)

This thread is to discuss the game Red Herring that I downloaded onto my mobile device at the suggestion of another denizen of Diversions.

16 words are given. Your job is to put them in categories of 4; the last category is the "red herring" category--those words don't match up with the others. One new puzzle every day that can be played on three diff't levels of difficulty.

Hmmm... Sounds interesting, I'll have to see if I can find it.

I've been enjoying it a lot. I can usually solve them on hard, but sometimes have to drop back a level.

One category was pretty difficult for me on Hard level today but I did finally figure it out.

Got two out of three today on hard, then finished the last (category 1) on normal.

Should I put a link to this thread in the RPS tournament thread, since three of the words today were rock, paper, scissors?

Grrrr. I can’t get 3 of the hard ones in the imagination pack. Got the hard ones in the daily puzzles. I’m going to torture myself to figure them instead of stepping back a level. Grrrr.

One category was hard today. There seemed to be a lot of potential overlapping categories based on the words.

Four straight days on hard. That's likely a personal best.

Today's was very unusual to me, with an obvious commonality of 4 items, no other likely contenders if one dropped, but the final solution did not include even 3 of them together in one of the commonalities.

Got the last 3 days on hard very quickly. However, today I accidentally solved a category that I think might have been very challenging.

once again too many commonalities. I got two, then had to downgrade to medium. Found out I was missing category 2. When solved, the category was one I had recognized, somewhat but not exactly, on hard, and thought I had tried the 3 sort of obvious ones plus every possibility for the 4th. Apparently not.
