Ok, i see. I was just starting as you were going out...Larry was/is a character. Yup, I remember the days when he sold lecture notes, which eventually phased out by the time i left. I studied actuarial science, but it took me some time before ALOT of the things I saw on the notes/hw assignments I copied started to make sense. Larry prepared me well for an actuarial career.

I will definitely look into checking out your seminar for Exam 4/C, now that I understand your qualifications...Courant is the Rolls Royce of mathematical/computer sciences! Take care

Now, Varadhan's lecture notes on Probability & Stochastic processes are available as separate books in the series 'Courant Lecture Notes' published by AMS. What other lecture courses were created by Varadhan? Math Statistics?

Yes, I have all those. Indeed, when I checked my extra book drawer (I have to use my cube volume effectively, so many of my books are in a file cabinet) Varadhan's mathematical stats notes were on top. I took Stochastic Processes with Varadhan when I was there, and the final was an oral exam, 1-on-1. For his probability course, we were given a take-home exam, which we were given up to the next semester to hand back in. Cantor functions featured prominently.

Were you an undergraduate? How recently did you graduate? I was Class of 2003 and continued to go to a lot of the actuarial society meetings as an alum.

I was an undergrad at Stern and graduated in 2006. If you are who I think you are (based on your username), then you already know me and then I actually first met you my freshman year during the actuarial society meetings, and you currently work with a former colleague of mine whom I worked with while I was interning at a reinsurer. Enough hints?
