Usually the two weeks is to transfer responsibilities to whoever will be taking over your work. Really doesn't take that long.

OP, I get that you might not have resigned before - but have you never even seen someone else work their notice?

Which animal would you use to describe the rest of your time working there?

Are you sure disabled fowl doesn't work equally well for the pre and post resignation?

Pre-resignation: House cat, awake. Knocking things off tables, scratching people with my sharp claws, and running away from shadows.

Post-resignation: House cat, asleep. Hindering any further work by laying across the keyboards of my co-workers.

I have an individual on my team who handed in his notice at the end of February. His last day end of May. He has a three month notice period. It's ridiculous.

I did a 6 week notice period once. I was supposed to help hire my replacement, but we never decided on anybody and it probably wasn't worth it to stick around that long.

Pre-resignation - beaver, building up all the structures necessary to prevent a disaster.

Post-resignation - beaver, redirecting waterways and causing disasters.
