Default 2018 MLB Weekly Contest

Another season! Another contest! Another even-year Patience win?

Last year, The Arbitrary finished strong to win the contest after Expunge had led most of the year with a pre-determined list of picks.

In 2016, Patience established an even-year trend while winning his 5th championship overall, finishing 4.5 games ahead of the pack (and within 0.004 of his predicted winning percentage).

In 2015, ylekiote won in a great finish, posting 100 Wins, and edging out Efc1878 in win percentage. In 2014, Patience won (for the 4th time!). In 2013, Bicycle Repair Man snuck in a win, despite trying to use Patience's Mets twice! In 2012, Patience held on to win for a 2nd consecutive year and for his 3rd time overall.

In 2010, keyser soze pulled away in the last week to win by 5 1/2 games. In 2009 Patience easily won his 1st time with a record-setting 109 wins (and a 10-game margin). In 2008, Ultimate Anyone? pulled out the win (by 0.009), while the 2007 version was won by Pub Guy (tie-breaker over Patience), 2006 by Pub Guy (going away), and 2005 version by Pseudolus.

Rules will be the same, generally speaking:
1) Prior to each "week" you will select a MLB team. You will get credited with the wins and loses that team had for the week. Weeks will still run MONDAY through SUNDAY, and picks need to be in by Noon ET Monday. If you miss the deadline you may pick a team before Noon EDT on another day and get credit for that day through Sunday's games (i.e., If you make a pick at 9pm Thursday night you will get credit for games played Friday-Sunday).

Note: The first weekend's games, Thursday 3/29 - Sunday 4/1, will NOT count in the first week, we begin with the first full week Monday 4/2.

2) Once you pick a team you can't pick that team again.

3) You must get credit for a minimum of 150 games through the season (which allows you to miss about 2 weeks). Since mid-2008, we have incorporated a rule, similar to the MLB batting average qualifiying rule, such that any games short of 150 count as a loss until you reach the qualifying total. [You can always get more than 150 games, of course]

4) Best winning percentage for the season wins.

5) For a tie-breaker, submit a prediction for your final winning percentage for the season. Closest actual to their selection wins the tiebreaker.

10 June 4-10
11 June 11-17
12 June 18-24
13 June 25- July 1
14 July 2-8
15 July 9-15
16 July 16-22 (3 games after ASB, Cards/Cubs play 4)
17 July 23-29
18 July 30 - August 5
19 August 6-12
20 August 13-19
21 August 20-26
22 August 27 - September 2
23 September 3-9
24 September 10-16
25 September 17-23
26 September 24-30

Well, now that Patience has signed up, I wonder how many will be scared off...

He's also the only one to provide a projected win percentage for tie-break purposes, so he's clearly in it to win it!
