Maybe christian uses a larger font. Bigger margins. Wider spacing.

I guess the important thing to note is that if a hiring manager doesn't like what he/she sees on page 1, he/she won't read the rest. So, page 1 is definitely where "exams passed" section belongs. And at the top. Bolded.

For career changers, you might consider compressing the non-actuarial job descriptions down to a few important points that you want to be sure get across. You can always expand back out to the full list of what you did at a certain job in the interview. Also, I now head my employment as select non-actuarial employment. Some of the jobs I've had are redundant or simply don't matter at this point.

My actuarial experience, of course, is a lot more wordy, but that's what will matter to a future employer.

About 10 lines per job. This is the format I use:
Dates of Employment
Title
Employer
Employer Location
<Space>
2-6 Lines summarizing work experience

Is that too much? It sounds it probably is way too long, from what you guys have said.

Thanks to all for the advice, it's much appreciated.

c, you could try having a two-column resume: first column (small, maybe a 1.5-2.0 inches) with the employer, dates of employment, etc., second column (the rest of the space) with the particulars of your duties.

That's a good idea, I'll try that. That should save quite a bit of space.

The two-column idea really helped - that saved about a page, now I've got my exam, education, and work experience on one page.

Glad to have helped.

Everyone else: please take notice before you create a new thread about whether to use two columns or one.
