We had a wedding shower for someone last week, and there was cake. Oh, how I wanted that cake. Eventually two women who do Weight Watchers (and know I'm on a diet) told me to eat some dang cake; it wasn't worth it to be miserable and feel deprived. I compromised by having a tiny piece (half of what I would usually have, and from the middle not the edge with extra icing), which was the right choice in the end. I would've been grumpy all afternoon knowing there was no cake.

It's all about moderation. Deprivation leads to failing diets, moderation leads to an adjusted lifestyle. Failing moderation... well that's just become my normal.

I'm not going to never have ice cream cake again, to be sure. But I'm coming off of a bad weekend and recovering nicely. I want to see how well I can do if I'm really, really good for more than a week before caving, and I think I need to be stricter with myself until I am in "normal" BMI territory at least.

In case anyone was wondering, today is WEDNESDAY, the 6TH of June. If you had asked me a few minutes ago, I may well have told you it was Tuesday the 7th.
