Default Custom Made Dress Shirts

Anyone have custom made dress shirts? I'm thinking about splurging and buying 3 or 4. I can never find shirts that fit off the rack.

Anything I should know?

The reason I decided to do it today is because of this promotion which I saw in a magazine. (Code is T7RSUS if anyone else is interested).

Is this deal too good to be true?

Huh? That's an ad for monogramming, not for custom-made dress shirts. Custom made dress shirts are where you go to a tailor and have your measurements taken, then they make the shirts.

You're right. the ad quoted above was for a shirt company that will send you shirts with your measurements. I was thinking of starting with this easy route. Since I can never find my collar size/ sleeve length combo on the rack.

I was also thinking of going to a tailor too.

I would get a couple and see how you like it. If you wear dress shirts off the rack then you never get everything perfect whether it is sleeves, buttons, collar, thread count, cuffs, size, fit. You will spend a decent amount of $$ but if you have the means I say it is worth it.

I have bought a couple Paul Fredrick shirts in the past and they are crap. They do not last and they look cheap. I would suggest buying some quality shirts and take them to the tailor, that way they are good quality and they fit.

Why can't you find shirts to fit?

I'm short. I usually look for 32/33 sleeve with 16.5 collar. These shirts are rare, but not impossible to find. However when I do find them, I find that the chest size (roominess) is huge. I measure around 44" across the chests, but I find that the off the rack shirts measure significantly larger around the chest for my combination. The fitted shirts, commonly sold by CK, are too tight.

You're a little shorter and skinny? Have you tried Banana Republic or Kenneth Cole? Those stores are practically made for people who are thinner than normal.

I'm not skinny, but even with my extra bulk:qung:, the off the rack shirts I buy are very roomy. Too roomy. And the :qung:fitted:qung: are too skinny.
