Default Lottery Pool!

Oh joy, some of your friends are starting a lottery pool. Will you join it?

(A lottery pool is when everyone contributes money to buy a bunch of lottery tickets, and any winnings are split equally amongst the participants)

Suppose $5 or $10 per week, 10 people in the pool. And you don't expect it to last long.

$5, short term, I'd do it for fun. (Expecting negative financial value.)

$10 would probably be too much.

At my last company, the head of accounting left the company after a non-work lottery pool he was in hit the jackpot. His share was something in the $25K - $30K per year for 20 years range. Not enough to retire on, but enough security for him to open the golf shop he'd always dreamed of.

Only if it's a one-time thing for a big jackpot...
