what do you guys think about offering a double after you just hit a guy and he didnt come in on his first roll?

It is rude not to do it.

Assuming that you have a won position, unless you think that there is a good chance for a backgammon, offer the cube and get on to the next game.

I assume that you are playing for money.

That's the way the game is played. I would fully expect the other guy to do the same if the situation were reversed.

IFYP, I think. (Some play that undoubled gammons are worth only one. In which case you should offer the cube right away unless a backgammon is at stake and an undoubled backgammon pays more than one.)

Yes, I intended to include possible gammons as a consideration.

By the way, ownership of the cube is a distinct advantage so the initial offer of the cube (which surrenders ownership) should not be done if the game is only slightly in your favor.

you want him to make a mistake. so you don't want to offer it if he's going to refuse when he should - and not let you get the backgammon.
