Frankly, as the world's most powerful country, I'm not sure we can realistically expect to not be singled out...especially when our administration constantly claims we are the pinnacle and protector of liberty and democracy.

That's just it. If you the put USA up against the rest of the world, we are in the top 5-10% of human right nations. The UK has draconian laws about immigrants. France bans people from wearing religious items in schools. Germany, Austria, and other European nations send you to jail if you say something different from officially approved history.

The US doesn't belong on any list anywhere that is seriously trying to tackle the major human rights issues of the world.

The amazing part is if the US holds one citizen without proper rights, (Jose Padilla?), it is big news. Despite the fact that this one guy is getting screwed, the fact that we all know about it says something about how strong our rights really are.

I don't know what it was.

My opinion that it was crap was independent of whether it was official or the work of a contributing blogger.

You can see this in that I agreed it was damaging to AI prior to even looking at Little Green Football's account of it.
