I'm very interested in using your study guide as I prepare for MFE. Before I do I am wondering how it worked out for everyone else who used it... did everyone pass?

Well, it's been about 10 days since I posted this with no response. So I guess that means that everyone has moved on to MLC (or C) because they passed.

Well, the creator (me) of that study guide didn't pass. That doesn't mean that the material and explanations are wrong, it just means that I could have studied more. I was also taking MLC at the time, and I passed that exam. Therefore, expect a newly polished study guide for Spring 2008.

This coercion had such a deterring effect on me that, after I had passed the final examination, I found the consideration of any scientific problems distasteful to me for an entire year." |

Although a few errors in the 1st draft, Colby's notes are very good. I did not use Colby's notes to prepare, but it may help you grasp the material better. I definitely suggest you supplement his notes with another source (Mahler, ASM, Actuarial Brew, etc). Best of luck!

I think I found 2 errors.
1. p7 the u and d formulae are missing an h 2. p12 I don't believe that d(lnX(t)) = dX(t)/X(t). I'm still not sure why this is incorrect but looking at the solution to the sample question 12 d(lnX) = (alpha - .5*sigma^2)dt + sigma dZ Also, disregard perpetual options and add S^a claims |
