Default AOFF UCON/FA Chatter Thread

Well, we are really starting the offseason now. Thank you to everyone for all the help getting the format finalized. I really hope this goes well. Please keep in mind that this is the forst time around, so try to be patient if we have hiccups.

This thread is for discussion, trash talk, whatever related to the UCON and FA bidding processes. The intention is to keep "unofficial" stuff out of the main thread so it is easier to navigate.

Please do not hesitate to post any comments, suggestions, etc.

Thanks again everyone.

I'm looking to free up some cap room and am willing to move Moss or McGahee to do it. I'm not interested in straight salary dumping, more like saving ~$10 and getting a younger, slightly lower tier, option. McGahee would require a good young RB in return.
Just thought I'd throw it our there.

If I'm understanding this right, we will be able to bid on 4 UR players at most, one per week?

(Or am I completely misunderstanding this? My confusion is part of the reason I've been not been commenting on this process. Go ahead and put the on me now....)

Each owner can open one UCON bid per week.

The key word is "open." You may open one per week. There could be strategy on whom to open. Once anyone else opens a player, you may also bid on that player. So there is the potential for bidding on 48 players total.

i haven't double checked our rules here but...here's how we handle things...

you can only have 1 active UCON @ a time. if an owner closes out a UCON bid by winning or losing before the week deadline, you are free to make another UCON bid.

OTOH, you are only allowed to OPEN 1 Free Agent bid per week but capable of bidding on any player anyone else opens as well...

We actually don't have the 1 active bid restriction. You can bid on as many open players as you see fit, so long as you can afford to pay them if you win the bid. You can only open one a week.

again, free agency and UCON's are a different animal here so i always have somewhere to start in comparison...

...which means if someone opens a UCON bid on another player, Kohl can make them an offer too...

gee, this is going slow...

everyone get that?

Correct.
I'm surprised we haven't seen any other bids open up yet. It is early though. Maybe I'll send a reminder PM out at lunch.

Just so I'm clear, if a player is UR and they don't get a UCON bid, the current owner gets to keep them on a UR contract for another year at the same contract amount if they want to, right?
