Default 1st Québécois dies in Afghanistan - Get out now.

1 is too many. Canada needs to get out of Afghanistan. We have tried to make this more of a Humanitarian effort, granted. However, even this war, which the whole world supported, has become a mess and a total failure.

Quote:
"The loss of a soldier from the Royal 22nd Regiment is yet another harsh reminder of the brutal results of a half-humanitarian, half-fighting mission, whose scope is ill-defined."

"We're in this mission to do the dirty job for George W. Bush. We bent our spine before the U.S. who had their arms full in Iraq," reader Roger Kemp wrote in Trois-Rivières' Le Nouvelliste.

Afghanistan is a failure. Al Queda is reported to be ramping up for another large scale attack in the west. Meanwhile the US has totally screwed up the Middle East.

The US bascially gave it 6 months and then bailed out.

Quote:
When Franks refused to send Army Rangers into the mountains at Tora Bora, he was already in the early stages of planning for the next war. By early 2002, new Predators—aerial drones that might have helped the search for bin Laden—were instead being diverted off the assembly line for possible use in Iraq. The military's most elite commando unit, Delta Force, was transferred from Afghanistan to prep for the invasion of Iraq. The Fifth Special Forces Group, including the best Arabic speakers, was sent home to retool for Iraq, replaced by the Seventh Special Forces Group—Spanish speakers with mostly Latin American experience. The most knowledgeable CIA case officers, the ones with tribal contacts, were rotated out. Replacing a fluent Arabic speaker and intellectual, the new CIA station chief in Kabul was a stickler for starting meetings on time (his own watch was always seven minutes fast) but allowed that he had read only one book on Afghanistan
Bin Laden, if he is alive and the CIA says he is, is nowhere near being captured. US took all of its specialists out. To kill Saddam.

Agghanistan = failure
Iraq = Failure.

Quebec is livid over one death in the "war." And we should be.

How do the NEO-cons and flagwavers on this board defend the botching of the war in Afghanistan?

I'm curious.

There are over 70 Canadian deaths so far, but only one as far as I remember at the hands of Americans. The flagwaverz on this board are American, so I guess the 1 death you're asking them about is Mark Anthony Graham's.

*note* The opinions expressed by the OP do not even come close to representing the opinion of most Canadians.

It takes a Quebecer to die for you to notice? Many Canadians have died already.

You seem bigoted to me.

You think I haven't noticed? That's really dumb. I am from Ottawa in any case.

Most Canadians are split on the Afghanistan war (again, not the Iraq war which is indefensible. Of course many people still don't know the difference ) However most frenchies are dead-set against all conflict in the midle east as can be seen by the uproar over the first death.

I respect their view on this.

Why can't Canada just do what we tell them?

Well, I'm sad to here that Quebecois are so incredibly selfish.

Ah yes, the highest level of French fighting posture. Such courage and fortitude against the Islamo-fascist thugs!
