Americans Urged to Fly Old Glory
WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. citizens are being urged by lawmakers to fly the American flag outside their homes and businesses as a response to the terror attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. A resolution passed unanimously Thursday by the House requested the mass display of Old Glory for the next 30 days. ``You will be sending a strong signal to millions of people here at home and abroad that the red, white and blue represents freedom and democracy, and those ideals will live on,'' said House Speaker Dennis Hastert. Rep. Ike Skelton, D-Mo., said the symbolic action would demonstrate to the world that ``we will not be daunted.'' The Senate has not acted on the resolution. |

Yes, just bought four small flags. One for each car and one for my desk and my wife's. Also got two flag pins. I think I will actual go and buy another one to fly at home.
Can anyone share any flag etiquette? Are you supposed to take it down at night? |

If you fly the flag outdoors it is ok to leave it out at night if it is lighted with dedicated lighting. If no lighting then take it down at night. The small 'toy' flags can be left out over night if left indoors.
The outside flag should also be taken down if exposed to the rain. RW&B Forever |
