I've read various articles about this issue. While Bradley had some part in it, I seem to get the idea that the ump baited him into the confrontation. Todd Heap's not commenting. I want to know what he heard.

The knee is his own fault for wrestling with his players.

Anyone with ESPN Insider: can you post the buster olney article?

I was at the game, and it was pretty entertaining. True, Bradley is a little cry baby, but it really looked like the umps instigated this event. It was crazy to watch... I've never seen a baseball player need to be physically restrained like that.

The ump should be suspended until Milton's rehab for the knee is over.

I truly dislike Bradley. Even at the most recent series at Shea, he finds a need to mouth off to fans. He needs professional help. However, my gut tells me the Ump created this incident

MB could be a synonym for volitile. I like MB but I agree with you P he need professional help. The guy is definitely a loose canon whose burned his bridges at every stop.

I think given his past history my first comment on lenght of suspension is a bit overboard but I do think the ump should be supsended 3 to 5 games and barred from this year's post season.

espn.com is reporting that umpire Mike Winters told Bradley that he was "sorry for China's reaction."

When I umpired summer baseball and high school games, I took a page out of the book of a guy I knew who had officiated for 30+ years and had worked several state championships ...

"Let the guy argue and stay as calm as possible; when you get animated, it just makes things worse - but explain what happened as best you can. The first time they swear, you tell them not to do it again - if they do, you let them finish and then ask them if there's anything else they want to say. When they decide they're done, toss 'em from the game because there's no place for that kind of language in the game - and when they start carrying on, you remind them that you gave them all the time they wanted to say whatever they wanted, and you're done ... and walk off and ignore them. Let them look like the fool, you go about doing your job on the field."

There's absolutely no excuse for an umpire trying to be the center of attention. None - if they are, it's a guarantee they're not doing their job. I haven't seen video of what happened, but if that's what happened here then the ump should get the permanent heave-ho from MLB. [That said, I have little faith that MLB will do anything noteworthy since Angel Hernandez is still umpiring despite all his self-serving antics.]
