Default NY Times multi-part puzzle

Occasionally the NY Times has a multi-part puzzle, and they're usually very well done.

Here's the one from today, in honor of United Nations Day on Wednesday: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/21/opinion/21puzzle.html

Good stuff. Not that I've had time to do the whole thing yet.

Thanks for this. Looks like fun. I just looked briefly at the first one.

I can't figure out the four letter word for the computer in puzzle 2, and it's driving me crazy. Can someone help me out?

This isn't a NY Times puzzle, but it's in the same vein and it's still a fun distraction.

From the note I received with this:
Quote:
Inspired by Puzzability's periodic puzzles on the NYT op-ed page, I put together a micro-extravaganza with a Hanukah theme for a gathering of first-grade parents at my son's school. It was aimed at "easier than easy," since many of the people at the party don't think of themselves as solvers, but perhaps even experienced puzzlers might get a smile out of it.

In any case, the puzzle set is at

There's another out today.
Quote:
In commemoration of Noah Webster's 250th birthday this year, this set of puzzles is presented in high definition. The puzzles owe their inspiration to Webster's pioneering work (or more precisely to his work's direct descendant, Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, 11th Edition). To begin, solve the first six puzzles, each of which will give you a six-letter answer. Then follow the instructions for the final puzzle, "The Last Word," to get the answer to the question:

Why can a reference librarian afford new dictionaries every year?
You can get all the pdf files here. Enjoy!
