Default Will the Yankees bid on A-Rod?

Unless the Yankees offer an obscene amount of money as an extension, you know A-Rod will opt out. If he does opt out, do you think the Yankees will pursue him, even though they've said they won't? I think the statement was just a way to try and get him to sign instead of opting out, and if he does opt out, they will pursue him.

I do not think the Yankees will offer A-Rod a contract if they do not come to terms on an extension before he opts out.

I really hope he wins a world series next year to spite the yankees. Double hope if it's with teh blue jays.

But I know it won't happen.

I would be shocked if the lightning rod goes to Toronto. I think he will end up on west coast

Boras: Will you pay him $XX?
Yankees: No, that is too much.

Boras: Arod just opted out. Will you now pay $XX + $20M?
Yankees: ??????

I'm guessing they would say no thank you.

I also expect them to sign him to an extension. I just can't see another team paying $30M+ per.

Well, Boras thinks he can get $30M for him. If the Yank don't offer that, he'll opt out. What if the Yanks offer 25-27, and no other team can even match that?

I think he'd fit perfectly with the Dodgers. They've been desperate for a real power hitter for years. He wants to play for a contending team, and the Dodgers would be if he signed with them. They also have no problem signing big contracts.

i think there would be bidders at the 25-27 range for sure. boston could do it (although there is some weird history) and then unload manny. lock up younger slugger at harder skill position and unload weirder older guy. not a bad trade.

I think 27-30 is a certainty.

Yankees will make a fair offer. I do not believe they will negotiate after opting out, too much lost leverage in future negotiations with anyone else. I do not think they will lowball ARob either.

The offer will be less than Boras is asking, however if Yankees are not in the bidding the overall level ARod can get will be lower too. They will have to decide if a Yankee-less market can drive the price above what the Yankees originally offered.

It will be a tough call. Not sure if anyone out there will pay more than the Yankees should offer
