Default Home Theater Setup

All the talk lately about TVs and receivers and such has got me thinking...we should have a thread for posting photos of our setups...I'll get things started....some of the photos are blurry, so I apologize

here is a frontal view (I had just been playing some Halo 3) that also shows the massive dvd spinning racks that house my dvd collection

here is a detailed view of the left and right sides of the cabinet (my NES was on top of the VCR, but I think it's finally dead)

then behind the right corner of the tv is the 'charging area' for both game systems

behind the left tv corner is the 'remote cemetary' courtesy of the harmony 880

and of course, behind the tv, looking straight down is a small viewable portion of the wire mess...notice the additional surge protector on top of the massive Monster surge protector...yeah, I ran out of outlets thanks to the gaming chargers.

Samsung DLP HDTV (HLP-5063W), Scientific Atlantic HD DVR (Explorer 8000HD), LG DVD Player (LGDVB418), JVC VCR (HR-S5901U), Sony Receiver (STR-DE697), XBox 360, Nintendo Wii....all with the Harmony 880

Wow, you didn't need to brag (j/k). It sure puts my system to shame.

Looks like you are missing some tower speakers and surround sound. That makes me feel better.

5.1 surround setup...notice the small center channel on top of the tv, the two small fronts are on the edges of the cabinet...rears are wall mounted behind the couch and the sub is back near the couch as well...

I'm thinking of getting floor standing front speakers after the holidays...I've asked for BB gift cards for christmas

Now I see them. Do you run your speaker wire along the wall for the rear speakers?

This kind of bugs me. I appreciate it when I get gift cards/cheques, and I would prefer GCs to a lot of the presents I wind up getting, but to blatantly ask for them? To me, it's too much like saying "Your taste in buying me stuff sucks. Just give me money and I'll do it myself."

But what do I know?

But to the original thread.. I'll take some pics in the next week, once I finish moving stuff around. It's not as big a setup as WA's, but I'm in a 1-bedroom apartment so LEAVE ME ALONE ALREADY!!!!

Are you really going to rewatch even as much as half of those DVDs? You could probably make a grand selling off half of them. That would pay for your floorstanding speakers and give you some change to buy a few new DVDs.

Here is the TV. We rearranged the living room since this picture. Also, I now have an HD DVD player hooked up...

I should rephrase...when people asked me what I wanted, that's what I suggested

I do randomly watch older DVDs...but there are still some that aren't even opened. I don't necessarily buy them all when released for $20...some are, but there are a lot that were also bought on massive sales (i.e. 3 or 4 or 5 for $20, etc...)
