Default Songs that bring a tear to your eye

are there any songs that when you hear them, you start to tear up?

whenever i hear James Blunt's 'Goodbye My Lover', my eyes well up. It's not like I get nostalgic and think of someone in my past that relates to the song...maybe it's just the power of the lyrics and his singing of it?

there's more that do the same thing for me, just cant think of them right now.

James Blunt: Carry You Home

Coldplay: Fix You

Mark Schultz: He's My Son (I only need to think about this one to have that effect)

Lots of movie scores do that to me too. Like the 'Malcom is Dead' track from Sixth Sense and 'That Next Place' from Meet Joe Black, for example.

Not gonna lie, I'm really not a fan in general.

There's a song from a Jewish group, sung in Yiddish, which is beautiful. It's called In A Vinkalah (In a Corner) by a group called D'veykus.
The song is basically about a parent whose child is a soldier, praying to God to protect the child.

"Malcolm is Dead" is a terrific track. Another good one, if you like James Newton Howard, is "The Great Eatlon" from "Lady in the Water" (PM me if you haven't listened to it).

I'd take a good soundtrack over a pop radio song any day, because with the former you have composers whose compensation isn't directly tied to the success of the film, which actually allows something (gasp!) artistic to happen. And ironically, sometimes the soundtrack is the only good thing to come out of an otherwise crappy film.
