Is there any better feeling than waking up in the morning with snow on the ground? Everything looks beautiful covered in white, with snow still lightly falling. I could just stare at it for hours.

Of course, the feeling only lasts until I have to climb in the car and head for work. Still, it was beautiful to see.

Try waking up to me next to you.

I am much warmer than snow. (badooom!)

i have woken up to a lot of things cooler than snow. i prefer to chose when i'll see snow and for how long.

the thought of dealing with it on a regular basis with the shoveling, freezing your ears, the winds, the wet boots, the car that does not start, the traction-aids, having to scrape ice off the windows, slippery streets and pavement, etc. takes away any ounce of pleasure associated with the first cutesy snowfall.

but that's just me.

whooooooooo

I'm with you Franchise. Sure, snow has its drawbacks, but when you first get up in the morning, and there has been a snowfall, particularly the wet kind that clings to the pine trees, you can't beat it for beauty.

sunny, 70's...love that LA weather!

I used to pray for snow on my birthday (growing up in NY, bday end of Jan)...then I had to drive in the stuff, stopped wishing for it.

Nature Boy, I think you focus too much on the negatives. I too like watching the snow fall and how it looks when it coats the trees. It snowed where I live for the first time this year about 10 days ago. We had a nice fire built, drank hot apple cider and played Christmas music. Yes, I had to shovel the driveway the next day, but it was the easiest shoveling I ever did and I'd do it again anytime.

You're right Franchise... the sight of fresh, undisturbed snow is beautiful. I love a light snowfall. It's when about the snow can be measured in feet that my dislike begins.

One by one ...

Patience - upper midwest, big city on a lake ... maybe you've heard of it.

Andy - while I'm flattered, you're not exactly my type. Too many working parts. (hehe)

Naitch - I'm sure the feeling will wear off soon, but there is something about the first snow of the year. This time next week, I'll be right back where you are.

Maine-iac and jets fan - that's exactly the kind of snow we got. Every branch is covered. It looks beautiful.

elmo - normally I'd be terribly jealous of that weather, but not today. See me tomorrow.

I grew up in North Pole. The problem with snow is that the first snow starts melting and becomes heavy and then it freezes again. So you have this hard ice/snow mix, very heavy, full of calcium grey-beige-ish.

I can't look at pure white December snow and not think how yucky it will be in April. Or the January-February colds. The only time weather was nice in January, Montreal was paralyzed by that 97 ice storm. That was beautiful too.

I'm with elmo on this one !
