3, a trucking firm, who will deny me because of an unreported $100 fenderbender.

I will also apply for other jobs, and most of them will deny me because of my work history in combination with my math degree from a top ranked school-- which if you didn't know is a pretty good sign you're not going to stick around doing data entry as long as they would like. That's assuming I'm qualified to begin with-- almost all jobs-- from balancing a ledger to ordering supplies, require at least a specific degree, if not experience.

Of course there's retail. So.. regarding dishonesty.. would you could you in a box?
Speaking as a potential employer, I wouldn't deny you based on the things you listed.

I would deny you based on your sucky attitude.

As Samantha said, it may be the attitude that's your biggest problem.

sweetiepie, before talking to any potential employers, you have to convince yourself that you will be a worthwhile hire for that employer. Make a list. Hypnotize yourself if it's necessary.

About stuff like having smoked pot- how are they ever going to find out? Unless you have a drug related conviction on your record, or you're planning on coming to work high, I don't see how it's relevant.

Don't worry about smoking pot. Apparently, it's possible to work as an actuary while both smoking pot and scoring an impressive PPD count.

1) Will not be a problem. If you GPA is poor someone will hire you. If you GPA is kickass, someone will hire you.
2) Not admitting is not the same as lying
3) Unreported = never happened. That is the beauty of not reporting.

4) I have lied on just about every application since landing my first actuarial gig. Mostly about comp, but then I expect people assume I am lying so it all works out in the end.

Not if they expect that you expect that they assume you are lying.

Really? I didn't know this was an option, sounds too risky. Don't they do background checks on that?

See a therapist! I'm absolutely serious. Think of it as an investment.

What's your resume look like? Do you list smoking pot as a hobby?

Don't most people these days pretty much assume that all college kids have tried pot at some point?
