Default APC

Hi All,

I would like to register for the APC, but I'm not sure that I am eligible. According to the SOA website: http://www.soa.org/education/exams/e...formation.aspx, "Candidates are also eligible to register for the APC if they have credit for FAP Modules 1–8 and all but one of the Preliminary Exams."

I am missing exam C and I just finished the FAP Modules 1-8. I am scheduled to write my FA this weekend.

Am I able to register for the APC before writting my FA? If not, do I have to wait until I get a passing grade for my FA before registering for the FA?

Thanks!

I believe in this case you have to wait until you get a passing grade on the FA.

I actually read it differently. Looking at the section above the one you quoted, brabak... you don't need FAP-1/IA to meet the requirements of "all prelims + Modules 1+5."

Based on that, I'd think that the FA is treated the same way for those going your (and probably my) route. I haven't called to ask this, but would be interested in finding if that's actually true, since I'm planning on going to an APC this year, and don't have MLC.

Bison may be correct. I'm not 100% sure. I think your best bet is to just contact the SOA and get a definite answer - they would know better than any of us.

Yes, I originally interpreted it the same way. I will register for the APC after submitting my FA and see if it is accepted. I want to join the April session in Chicago and probably will not be able to if I have to wait to receive a pass on my FA.

I'll post here and let you know the outcome.

I would have done that instead of posting here, but the SOA didn't leave any contact information on their APC forms or instructions. I don't know who to email or call.

I see no harm in giving apc@soa.org a shot. I have no clue if it's the actual contact address or not though

Actually, that address is printed right on the APC registration form.

Yes, but in this context:

All enrollment cancellations must be made in writing. Please send a message to apc@soa.org in order to obtain a refund of the registration fee, minus a cancellation fee of USD 75.00.

Regardless, I'll inquire using that address. I'll post the answer here.

Thanks to everyone for the advice.
