In addition to the implication of higher frequency/severity is also the implication that the related affects of naturally occurring El Nino will be magnified due to global warming, as well.

Yes. There have been many who have speculated about El Nino's connection to Global Warming. I did not misremember.
Thanks for the information, but I'm not it jives with what you said before. I don't see how La Nina is out of step with the theory. The last 15 years or so, do seem to be in step, but that's a fairly limited time frame.

"Global Melt: Sea Ice Seen From Orbit"
On the bright side, they mention a possible new passage for ships to get through, saving transportation costs.

I wonder if this will change TDA's mind from the opinion that climate change isn't the worst environmental problem.

I just noticed the GISS data was released later today. Well, Paul, you win. The anomaly is 81. That was unexpected, since the other two major temperature anomaly releases showed anomalies less than 0.1 C different from Jan/Feb. GISS is a substantial outlier, at a 0.5 C increase. I understand that it claims to measure a more substantial region, but that seems really out of whack, especially considering the NOAA sea temp anomalies were below average due to La Nina, and other than the Asiatic region, everything was cool.

As I have spent more time looking at the various sites I have come to realize that the skeptics believe that "Hansen" is a tool who takes liberty with the GISS estiamtes. It's not the first time the anomalies of GISS do not track with the others - always higher.

But since I know no better, I will continue to use the GISS anomalies in my stats. I do admit to serious questions about the number, though. I kept a pretty close eye on a weekly basis at NOAA both on the land and the Sea Surface anomalies, and there seemed to be no indication at all that we should expect such a high anomaly. But I'll plug it in and update my trends and see what the explanation for the difference is. Hpefully it is explained.

I suppose that any time a scientist's name is mentioned in the same sentence as George Soros, the skeptics' eyebrows will be raised:
