I won't bore you all with a restating of the reasons why we chose to have a homebirth (four times (not for the same baby, of course)) (PM me if you really care), but there was a story a while back about a father who tried to carry his daughter out of the ward. (IIRC, he was estranged and may have been trying to steal the baby.) The electronic bracelet the child gets set off the alarm, locked the doors and shut down the elevator. He had nowhere to go. Here comes security with aparently no training--they shoot him with a taser while the child is still in his arms!! What were they thinking!? (thought I had started the thread on that story, but I can't find it.
