why would you think that chatting on the phone in front of a group is perfectly fine, but texting in front of a group is rude?

re-read my post. I don't ever see someone chatting on the phone in a group. It's mostly the texters and they stick out.

I don't think there's anything particularly rude about it, it's just...weird. And this is with me knowing full well that without the phones those people and I probably wouldn't interact anyway, we'd just be standing there in the Chipotle line, sitting on the bus, whatever. It still just seems weird to me the way we're all glued to these things.

oftentimes while on the bus or in a long line, i get quite antsy. smartphones have made me enjoy train rides and such so much more than before. i think i actually take cabs a decent amount less due to smartphones.

i don't use the phone much with a group of others however. i just use it to surf the web, i don't text people all that much and don't want to be in constant contact anyway.
