I know he did his best work for the Sox.
I know he is a great pitcher and will get into the Hall of Fame.

But as a Sox fan, please let him in as a Yankee. They are soulmates.

i am sure this situation has happened before, so what did the other players do...go in with their last team, pick which team they wanted, or something else?

It used to go to whomever the player wanted. Most choose well. Most were in one place longer then. Then a few actually tried bidding the rights to the teams for whose hat they would wear. So the HoF changed it and said they would pick. Gary Carter wanted the Mets, but the HoF said it would be Montreal. That case was I believe less clear than this one.

If the HoF chooses it will be Boston, or something non-distinguishable. He is upset that they didn't want the highest paid player in baseball winning 14 games a year. So he turned it on with Toronto out of spite. Too bad he wouldn't do that when he was with Boston being paid very well.
