CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN! Sure is nice to take the 1st 2 games, with Zambrano pitching tomorrow. And don't look now, but Soriano is heating up!

All the Cubs are heating up. Regardless of the outcome tomorrow they won a series against the best team (record wise) in the NL.

The cubs have had a slow start? You're right, because most of them aren't 300 hitters, they're 380 hitters. ONE guy on your team is off to a slow start, not the whole team. If your team was off to a slow start, that'ls implying they're gonna win what, 130 games this year?

oooookay. Slow start. The BREWERS are off to a slow start. The Cubs? Not so much.

so Gagne sucks, but Wood is "settling in." If that's not a homer comment, I don't know what is.

Oh wait, your "fix" of my post was too.

Gagne has been a closer for many years.
Wood is doing something he has never done before.

Gagne's WHIP is 1.85.
Wood's WHIP is 0.78.

Gagne has allowed multiple base runners in 8 of his 17 innings.
Wood has allowed multiple base runners in 3 of his 18 innings.

I am definitely a homer, but I think its safe to say Wood has been generally good this year, and he certainly has been much better than Gagne.

Yes. He has been better than Gagne. But, he also hasn't been used as much as Gagne, due to the hot start of the Cubs offense. They haven't been in nearly as many close games as the Crew.

BUt it doesn't really matter, there's no reason that Gagne's been used so much. If we had an offense that could score more than 3 runs a game, his use would be down, and his stats would be up.

But who cares, we both know the Brewers & the Cubs are both going nowhere. Remember, you guys are Cursed (only because it's your own fault for throwing the series), and we just suck.

Your melt down is hilarious. First, you argue that he isn't "just settling in" then you argue that "he hasn't been used as much". I think you fail to see the big picture. Wood is new to the closer role and yes, has not been used often. That's why it will take some time for him to settle into the closer role. The more times he appears in save situations the more comfortable he will feel in those situations. So, The cubs "hot start" hurt Wood because his first save opportunities were sporadic and uncomfortable. As the season progress, I think you will see him become more comfortable in the closing role. If not, then he probably won't be a very good closer will he? But he just picked up another save today against the diamond backs so I think he will be just fine.

BTW apparently the brewers organization agrees with me on Gagne. They just removed him from the closer role WITHOUT NAMING A REPLACEMENT!!! So, when you say that gagne is okay or can go to playoffs or whatever... the Brewer organization doesn't think so. In fact, they don't care who's throwing in the 9th as long as it isn't him.

Also, Cubs now swept the Diamond backs. I'm pretty happy with that.
