I make it a rule to always start and finish with any applicable Statement of Principles.

Bailey and Simon is self-contained and always good for a couple of points. AAA is list oriented so just get out the note cards and start memorizing.

Having read the ISO GL Experience rating plan and/or the NCCI plans before some of the other papers will help you understand the practical applications of the stuff in Gillam/Snader & Gillam.

Ferrari is another paper that's pretty much self-contained. His conclusions about the behavior of actuaries toward regulators, from 1967, are still valid today.

I like to keep Sections B and E close together when studying, given the overlap.

For the rate of return section, I like to do the Ferrari and Feldblum papers before Robbins, since Robbins sort of incorporates both of them.

This is the order I plan on hitting each paper, have not set a timeline yet

McClenahan
Feldblum - IRR
Ferrari
Robbins
Roth
Kreps
Bault
Mango
Walters
AAA
Cummins
Mahler - Shifting Param
Bailey
Feldblum - Min Bias
GLM
Lee pts 1-3
Miccolis
Mahler - Exces Ratios
Mahler - Alt WC Excess Ratios
IRR Pt 1
Gilliam
Venter
NCCI Exp Rat Plan
ISO Plan
IRR pt 2
Table M
Table L
Lee pt 4
NCCI Retro Plan
IRR pt 3
Teng
Fisher

Out of curiosity, why split up Gillam/Snader like that, if the readings are Parts I,II,III, of what I assume, is the same topic?

I haven't looked at the actual papers, so it might be what you suggest makes perfect sense. I'm looking for a reasonable schedule to follow for my first pass through, and that jumped out at me.

TIA

Because they deal with 3 different types of rating...prospective, retrospective and loss sensitive.
