Default President Obama? Oy Gevalt!

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/22/us...jewish.html?hp

Quote:
BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — At the Aberdeen Golf and Country Club on Sunday, the fountains were burbling, the man-made lakes were shining, and Shirley Weitz and Ruth Grossman were debating why Jews in this gated neighborhood of airy retirement homes feel so much trepidation about Senator Barack Obama.

“The people here, liberal people, will not vote for Obama because of his attitude towards Israel,” Ms. Weitz, 83, said, lingering over brunch. “They’re going to vote for McCain,” she said.

Ms. Grossman, 80, agreed with her friend’s conclusion, but not her reasoning.
“They’ll pick on the minister thing, they’ll pick on the wife, but the major issue is color,” she said, quietly fingering a coffee cup. Ms. Grossman said she was thinking of voting for Mr. Obama, who is leading in the delegate count for the nomination, as was Ms. Weitz.

...

“The fate of the world for the next four years,” mused Rabbi Ruvi New as his Sunday morning Kabbalah & Coffee class dispersed in East Boca Raton. “It’s all going to boil down to a few old Jews in Century Village,” he added, referring to a nearby retirement community.
Obama hasn't spent much time on this group of voters, will it come come back to bite him in the tuchis?

No, because the general election is not tomorrow.
If Obama decides to ignore this group of voters between now and the general - possibly.

is it likely that between now and then, Obama will become more pro-Israel than McCain?

AIPAC rates Obama highly - but it doesn't seem to matter to those in the article.

How do they rate Obama's advisors?
I realize that the answer ought to be the same, but I see a big difference between what Obama says publicly about Israel (all very nice) and the people he has chosen to advise him in foreign affairs.

Can you explain this "big difference"?

According to this: http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/.../usjewpop.html the Jewish population in Florida is 653,435 and the population of Florida is 17,789,864. How will this group of voters have any effect on the election in Florida or any other state for that matter? It's a very small minority and the shifting of a few thousand votes from one side to the other will be more than offset by the increased number of voters (particularly young and/or black) brought to the polls by Obama's popularity.

Did you know that the year 2000 was only 8 years ago?

Do these numbers represent potential voters? What happens if you exclude all those under the age of 18, for example?
