Ok.
You get down the mountain and trail them over a couple small rolling hills. Moving quietly, you hear them relaxing in a depression right up ahead. They are in enough of a depression that you cannot be seen by the mountain. They seem to have only gone a little ways before deciding to open up the drink again.

We have to figure out how close we can get before the surprise round starts, since we get only a move or a standard action in it (or a minor, but wouldn't want that, normally). |

Alright, here it is. Everything is a gradual slope except just to the left of the gnolls which is about a 10-15 foot cliff.
