Post Free 1/P Study Guide & Answers: Marcel Finan's "Probability Course for the Actuaries"

Greetings.

Dr. Marcel B. Finan’s A Probability Course for the Actuaries (http://syssci.atu.edu/math/faculty/finan/book.pdf) is an excellent free resource for those preparing to take Actuarial Exam 1/P on probability. Dr. Finan is a professor at Arkansas Tech University who has recently begun creating free online pdf texts for actuarial students.

This study guide thoroughly covers all exam topics and builds the necessary foundation of skills for addressing these topics competently.

I worked on writing a solution key to Dr. Finan’s study guide in the spring of 2007. This work was crucial to enabling me get a 10 on Exam 1/P.

Now, with Dr. Finan’s permission, I am creating free, publicly available answer keys for each section in his study guide. The recommended approach for using this resource is to read each section, work on the embedded examples, and then try the problems. You can use my answer keys to check your numerical answers against the correct ones.

This is the page which includes all the answer keys written thus far:
http://rationalargumentator.com/actu...1-answers.html

Answers to Sections 1 through 6 are now available. I will post links to answer keys to further sections on this thread as I publish them.

I did write detailed solutions to the problems in this study guide, but this study guide will also be used by professors of actuarial science – possibly for assigning homework problems to their students. Thus, making just the numerical answers to problems available is a good solution to enable the study guide to be used both for self-study and in the classroom.

I hope you find this study guide as helpful as I have.

Sincerely,
G. Stolyarov II

IMPORTANT NOTE - May 13, 2010: The URL for these answer keys has changed due to circumstances beyond my control. The new URL is http://rationalargumentator.com/actu...1-answers.html

This URL is fully under my control and will not change.
