I used Guo but just as a supplement to ASM. It does contain the solutions the DM Textbook. For me, it was useful for shortcuts and stuff.
If you want to buy, pm me

I looked at the sample available on his website, and wasn't too impressed. FWIW, the TIA seminar also works many of the exercises in DM. although it's an expensive option just to get the DM solutions, many of which are not that applicable to the exam anyway, in its current format.

I personally loved Guo's P manual, this is good especially if you don't have a strong math/calculus background. He explains hard topics in detail better than any other manual (BPP is good too).

FM, sucked, because he gives you EA problems to solve, they are harder than FM questions. Solving more difficult problems than actual exam is a good practice, but I think it was bit too much.

For MFE and/or his solution for DM are good as a supplement. (MLC arch also)

In my opinion, his manuals are good to go over before you study manuals like ASM so you have some ideas before you start solving 8 million problems in ASM. His manual don't have that many problems.

Guo = good to start with if you don't have any background

Use ASM if you want to pass MFE. As of right now, it is by far the best for exam preparation, in my opinion. I also used TIA, it's good for the concepts but it hasn't kept up with changes in the exam questions over the last few sittings, unlike ASM. ASM gives you a good idea of what to expect, at least as well as anyone can, given that each sitting is different.

Definitely don't buy Guo's manual alone. It deals more with theory questions and didn't help me much with SOA type questions.

I agree....ASM seems to be the best for MFE (only Jan will tell) but Guo has solutions for MFE but I found I used ASM more than the text and Guo's solutions

I know this is a dinosaur thread (hope the mods don't mind), but based on what folks said, it seems I should stay away from Guo (altho my donated version is probably outdated anyhow).. it would be nice tho if i can get a guide that gives proofs and whatnot (e.g. brownian motion) so I can understand the intuition behind formulas (instead of all the handwaving... altho that can be a good thing much of the time)

but I'm still leaning towards Actex... I know some folks say ASM can't be beat for mfe, but I believe there was a change of authors for Actex no too long ago.. any thoughts?

I was also wondering when one can sign up for mfe? I believe its only given like 2/3 times a year, so I imagine one can register maybe 2 months in advance? but I'm just speculating

thanks
