Never had trouble running Vista on our desktop. However, we did encounter some trouble with the latest Windows Service Pack 1 Update, but I must say that Dell's service team is outstanding. Supposely, XP also had problems when it first came out. I guess we will wait and see.

VMware funsion is working out great for me and I have heard great things about Parallel as well. Crossover is pretty good too, you can install office 2007 on Leopard that would behave like a native application.
I was going to mention Crossover by Codeweavers to E as well. I love it especially since it was free because the price of gas went down...

Sweet.

All is well in the Malachi Realm.
Glad to hear you made it through.

Do you plan to run with Windows 7 next year, or is this the last Windows experience you plan to have?

idk, it depends on early reviews. I've never been an early adapter, so I'll probably wait a bit on 7, if I ever use it at all.

I took a hard look at Crossover before I went with VirtualBox. I never could get convinced that Crossover supported 100% of the functionality I wanted from spreadsheets and Quicken (the 2 main things I use at home in a Windows environment). Macro support for Excel looked shaky in Crossover, and I also read that not all Quicken functions were supported (e.g. transaction downloads).

With VirtualBox, you get the full functionality of a stand-alone Windows environment. Plus, VirtualBox is free too. The only downside is that you have to buy an OEM copy of XP, but this is a minimal expense IMO.

E has good point.

I actually use Crossover and VMware together.
Crossover is great for applications that it specifically support, office, photoshop and so forth and it brings a very nice integration into native OS environment. I believe Crossover's main focus is to bring office/photoshop for linux as those 2 applications are considered the biggest hurdle for migrating to linux.
I use Crossover mainly for Onenote.

There are times when a stand-alone Windows environment is needed and there is no substitute .

I agree as well. I've used VirtualBox up to this point on Windows to run all varieties of Linux (FreeBSD, Ubuntu, Debian, Slackware, etc). I've never used VB on Ubuntu. The programs I was interested in are fully supported by Crossover, so no worries for me.
