I saw Nile live a few years ago on the Annihilation of The Wicked tour, great show!

I went through a phase where I listened to a ton of Arch Enemy a while back, but I'm not crazy about the newest album and now the only songs I listen to regularly are Nemesis and Dead Eyes See no Future. Michael Amott is a god though. I love his stuff with Carcass too, Necroticism and Heartwork.

What are your favorite Dark Tranquility songs? I think Monochromatic Stains is awesome, but I haven't heard anything else from them that I liked.

What other bands are you into?

I just download a ton of stuff from Kerrazy torrents, and every once in a while I find something new that I like.

The great thing about Dark Tranquillity is their albums are geeting better each release. Grab the new one, Fiction, if you can and check out "Terminus", "Focus Shift" and "Inside the Particle Storm". Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of their last 3 cds.

I started listening to Arch Enemy with Burning Bridges, before Angela joined the band. I think she's done a great job so far and she's awesome live. I really like the new cd, definitely the best one with Angela on it.

Other bands I like a lot-
Amorphis, Behemoth, Carcass, anything involving Dan Swano (Edge of Sanity, Bloodbath, Nighingale, etc), Katatonia, Esoteric, Emperor, Dimmu Borgir, Equilibrium, Cradle of Filth, Circus Maximus, In Flames (older), Funeral, Mercenary, Mourning Beloveth, Scar Symmetry, Pain of Salvation, Death, The Gathering, Vader, Swallow the Sun, Shape of Despair, Leaves Eyes, Sentenced, Soilwork, Eluveitie, Mournful Congregation, ...

There are many others, but that's off the top of my head.

I used to really love Sentenced. I probably haven't listened to them in 5 years. Soilwork's older stuff is a lot better than the newer stuff, IMO.

I used to be very into KMFDM until Nihil came out in the mid-90s and it seemed like Sascha ran out of ideas and Xtort sort of confirmed it. I haven't bought anything since then. Has the more recent stuff been worth it?

Not really. I think the older stuff is amazing, the newer stuff is passable. Some of the side projects are fun.

The last Soilwork wasn't that great but I really like the Swano influence they adopted on Natural Born Chaos and beyond. NBC and Steelbath are probably my favorites.
