I notice in Weishaus' study guide that some problems require knowledge of Asian geometric/arthimetic puts/calls, barrier options etc in certain sections like Simulation, for example.
Is it fair for them to assume that we all took MFE and know that stuff? The syllabus does state "lognormal stock pricing." Does that include these different types of options? Thanks in advance for your help! |

The control variate method is best illustrated with geometric/arithmetic Asian options, not that you have to know a lot about those options to understand the method.
I understand that the unreleased exams so far had questions about Choleski and stocks with jumps, so I think it's time for a control variate question. Interestingly, Choleski and stock jumps are being dropped from the syllabus next time when the material moves to MFE, but control variates will remain on the syllabus. |
