Default Applying to P&C jobs with MLC passed

A friend of mine is looking for entry-level jobs with exams P, FM, MFE + MLC (with MLC passed most recently in Nov). He has previous internship experience in life but would be interested in trying out P&C as well. Knowing that P&C firms prefer CAS exam names, how should someone like him write the Exams section of his resume/cover letter?

Option 1:
Exams passed: 1/P, 2/FM, 3F/MFE, MLC

Option 2:
Exams passed: 1, 2, 3F, MLC

Option 3:
Exams passed: 1, 2, 3F, 3L (Exam waiver through MLC)

I guess the situation is that he wants to convince the P&C employer that he will give his best shot in P&C despite his previous experience in life and his MLC credit (because he wants to keep options open), so he wants to be extra diligent on his resume/cover letter.

Any thoughts?

option 1 is fine, and won't require switching back and forth if person applies to soa/cas side jobs.

just have the story straight for the interview as to why you now prefer pc over others.

if you're applying p&C, write 1, 2, 3F, 3L.

if non-P&C, P, FM, MFE, MLC.

I had CAS style when applying to SOA type companies and it raised questions. I say option 3.

I guess a natural follow-up question for those who pick option 3 is that should the resume just say 3L or should it mention that it's a transfer credit? If just 3L and the employer screens resumes by searching passing candidate names then wouldn't he be screwed? But if transfer credit is mentioned, the employer would need heavier justification for the shift from recent indecisiveness (MLC in nov) to determination now.

I'm going P&C and took MLC

So far my exams are listed like this: 1, 2, 3F, MLC, 4, 5, 6

So I'd go with option 2

2 and 3 are both fine. I see no problem calling MLC 3L. I assume people are aware that MLC counts for 3L, but some of the people who haven't taken exams in a while might not. They might not know what 3L is either for that matter.

The only way for the company to check if you passed exams is to check your name on the list of candidates who passed. So, you might run into trouble if the company doesn't find your name on the "3L" list.

This is factually incorrect. They are different exams, and you will cause confusion.

I was in the same exact situation. I went with option 1. I got a job. The job that I did get, the interviewer asked me why I labeled them like that, and didn't put 3L for MLC. I explained they were different exams, and MLC counted as credit for both while 3L only counts for CAS, I didn't want to limit my options. Again, I got that job.

You must've done a really good job convincing your employer that you're both capable and reliable in the P&C field. Do you mind if I ask if you have stayed at that firm?
